There are moments in life when you can no longer pretend.
When the voice inside grows too loud to ignore. When the life you have built — carefully, responsibly, exactly as expected — starts to feel like a costume.
For me, that moment came on a quiet morning, on an island bathed in light.
This is the story of how Omae was born. Not from a business plan or a market opportunity. From a journey back to myself.
It Started in Corsica
I grew up on an island where things are not explained. They are felt.
The wind, the silence, the sea — they teach you before you know how to read. As a child, I learned to listen differently. To press my palms against warm stones. To walk barefoot through the dry grass. To recognise the song of the wind in the branches as something more than sound.
There was something sacred in the simplest gestures. Picking a fig. Picking up a pebble. Breathing deeply after a storm.
I did not know yet that this was the beginning of a spiritual life.
My mother was a world unto herself. Strong and gentle at once. She loved movement, art, texture, ambiance. She collected stones like fragments of soul. She spoke to me often about energy — not as a grand theory, but as a quiet truth: "Listen to your body. Trust what you feel."
I grew up with a strange sensation of being connected to something invisible, something larger — but that anchored me deeply to myself.
I was hypersensitive. Permeable, I would say. I absorbed everything. The unspoken. The atmosphere of a room. The vibration of a place. Sometimes it frightened me. Other times, it carried me.
In Corsica, I learned the deep connection between environment and soul. Not as knowledge. As body memory. As a silent evidence.
The Cage Made of Glass
And then one day, I left the island.
Because I was told it was time to do something serious.
I moved to Paris. I studied. I worked. I built a life that looked exactly right from the outside — a stable career in real estate finance, an apartment, a full schedule, a responsible version of myself.
But inside, something was quietly going out.
The part of me that was vibrant, intuitive, a little wild — she started to feel trapped. Like a bird in a glass cage. Everything seemed correct. But I was emptying, slowly.
I remember crying in the metro one morning. Not from sadness, not from drama. A dull grief, as if my soul was whispering: you are not where you belong.
I stopped fighting it.
I went back to my first love — creation. I trained in interior design, in atmosphere, in the intelligence of space. I began to rebuild.
But something was still missing.
The body. Movement. Breath. The connection between inside and outside that I had felt as a child in Corsica — I could not find it anywhere in Paris, or later in Brussels.
And then life called me somewhere else entirely.
The Island That Changed Everything
Mauritius.
I did not know this island well. But something in me knew. It was not a logical choice. It was a vibratory certainty.
When I arrived, I felt the earth under my feet like a reconnection. The light, the space, the warm sea — everything in me began to breathe again.
On the island, I deepened my yoga practice. But not as an activity this time. As a medicine.
I rediscovered Kundalini. I rediscovered my breath. My body. My inner fire. And I felt reborn — the woman I had set aside for too long.
I danced again. Not on a stage, not to be seen. I danced because I no longer knew how to say what I felt any other way. I let my body move freely, without elegance, without control. And I cried — not from sadness, but because I was coming home.
The body does not lie. It knows where the blockages are. It knows where energy flows. And it knows exactly how to open the doors we had let close.
The Morning Everything Became Clear
After months of quiet transformation, the idea came without warning.
I was meditating one morning, facing the lagoon. My notebook open on my knees. And a sentence arrived, unannounced:
What if every garment became an intention?
It was not a thought. It was a guidance.
I had spent months exploring yoga, breathwork, the chakras, the teachings of Wayne Dyer, Joe Dispenza, Caroline Myss. And what I understood with growing clarity was this: everything begins with intention. The universe is a vibratory intelligence — and we are its creators.
So I began to dream aloud.
Garments that were soft, beautiful, functional — but above all, modern talismans. Pieces with a phrase sewn into them like a prayer. A legging that reminded you, with every movement: I am grounded. I am rising. A yoga mat that vibrated with love and strength the moment you stepped onto it.
I talked about it to people around me. Some nodded politely. Others had eyes that lit up.
I followed that light.
I drew the first pieces. I wrote the first intentions. I found fabrics, partners, women ready to build something with me.
And little by little, Omae was born.
Not as a company. As an extension of my own healing — and an offering for every woman still on her path.
Why Mauritius
Omae could only have been born here.
The Indian Ocean shaped everything — the colours we chose, the way we think about the body in motion, the understanding that real strength is quiet. That the most powerful thing a woman can do is not push harder, but return to herself.
The island taught me that ritual is not an escape. It is a return.
And that is the heart of everything Omae makes.
Premium activewear designed in Mauritius. Inspired by the rhythm of waves, the freedom of the wind, the changing colours of the earth and sea. Made for women who want their movement to mean something — on the mat, in the water, through every demanding day.
Each piece carries a mantra. Not as decoration. As a daily reminder of who you are and what you have chosen to focus on.
The mantra of our first collection, Rooted Rituals:
Ritual is my Refuge.
Because before you can move toward what you want, you have to come back to yourself.
That is where it all began — for me, on a quiet morning in Mauritius, with a notebook on my knees and a sentence I did not choose.
That is where Omae was born.
If this story resonates — welcome to the circle.
